The VSA arts of Montana affiliate originated in the "Magic Movers", a creative movement / creative dramatics company affiliated with the University of Montana. As the "Magic Movers" project evolved, VSA arts of Montana emerged as an independent community-based 501(c)3 organization using the concepts of the "Magic Movers" to create a more broad-based program serving disabled populations in the arts. VSA arts of Montana was recognized as a special project site by the National Committee, Arts for the Handicapped, now known as VSA arts, and continues to be an educational affiliate of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
